In around 1958, my father Philip Finnemore had the opportunity to buy Cruck Cottage for £1000. He wanted to turn it into two cottages for farm workers. He had an estimate from an Alcester builder to do the work, which included putting bathrooms and kitchens in. The estimate was £1500, and the builder said to my father "but it isn't worth it, is it".
About a year later it was sold for £1100 to Mr. J. Padley, who converted it into one house.
